The Community Roots Housing public development authority (PDA) board gained two new emerging leader fellows: Amy Nguyen and Shaun Frazier. Amy is the Program Manager for Public Art with the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture and brings over 10 years of experience and knowledge as a public servant and nonprofit leader. Shaun is the Director of Homeless Services at the YMCA Social Impact Center and comes to the board with over nine years of experience working with youth and young adults by means of case management, administration, and program development at afterschool leadership, workforce development, and transitional living programs.
The emerging leader fellows program places a community member on the board for a two-year term, during which the Fellow will serve on a board committee and will take part in all PDA board activities. The PDA board oversees all organizational activity including property management, real estate development, and ongoing operations.
Previous fellows include Frank Alvarado, Sara Cubillos, and Jaebadiah Gardner. Frank is now the vice chair of the PDA board, and Sara is currently a full member of the PDA board. Jaebadiah joined Community Roots staff after his tenure as a board fellow, then went on to become one of few African American real estate developers in Seattle.
Community Roots Housing and the Community Roots Housing Foundation are both led by volunteer boards made up of individuals passionate about serving our neighborhoods.
