How to Apply for Housing

Explore our available apartments. Listings are up to date. However, seeing an apartment listed does not mean every household will qualify. Review the requirements in the listing first:

• Unit AMI (how to calculate your AMI)
• Minimum household income to rent the apartment
• Maximum income for your household size
• If full-time student or other restrictions apply
• If water/sewer/garbage is included in monthly rent

When you find an apartment you want to tour, call our leasing line at (206) 895-1400 or email leasinginfo@communityrootshousing.org. We will ask about your household’s income, size, rental history, student status, and when you want to move-in. The leasing team will check your eligibility and help schedule a tour with the Property Manager.

We will send the list of documents to bring with you to apply. You need to collect all required documents before your tour so you can complete your rental application.

Bring the required documents with you to the tour with the Property Manager. After you view the apartment, you can submit your rental application on-site. The Property Manager will help walk you through the application.

We must verify income and asset information for every household due to regulatory requirements. This can take time, especially if information is missing when you submit your application. To help the process, please have contact information ready for all income and asset sources.

Due to the number of applications being processed, it can take three or more weeks to process paperwork and verify information. If we have follow-up questions, we will contact you for clarification or additional information.

If your paperwork is approved, Community Roots will contact you to set a time to sign your lease and schedule your move-in day!

If your application is not approved, you will receive a letter explaining the decision. You will have 14 days to appeal. The apartment will not be held while your appeal is reviewed.
