Station House Green Building Design

Our most environmentally friendly building yet

At Community Roots Housing, we strive to build quality, affordable homes for all. We are proud to have built homes at Station House to target multiple green building standards for the benefit of both the surrounding environment and those living in the building.

Energy and water savings

The design incorporates strategies to save energy and water including solar panels, highly efficient irrigation systems, and drought-resistant plants.

Healthy building materials and indoor environment

Inside, apartments feature healthy materials like formaldehyde-free cabinets and low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint for quality indoor air. Energy-efficient appliances and low-flow plumbing are friendly to the environment and the wallet. Station House’s enhanced insulation and triple-paned windows exceed building code requirements to boost energy efficiency while reducing noise pollution.

Commute-friendly location

Additionally, the building’s location enables close access to many transportation choices including light rail, walking, bus lines and bike lanes for lower carbon footprint, healthy movement, and great access to city amenities

Targeting multiple green building standards

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Homes Platinum

LEED Homes Platinum is the highest and most selective of the four LEED rankings from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Evergreen Sustainable Development Standard

The Evergreen Sustainable Development Standard is Washington State’s green building standard:

  • safeguards health and safety
  • increases durability
  • promotes sustainable living
  • preserves the environment
