Last week, Community Roots Housing partnered with Harborview and UW Medicine to bring a mobile vaccine clinic to three senior buildings. Community Roots’ Haines, Elizabeth James House, and El Nor buildings serve senior residents, making them eligible for the vaccine rollout.
“I think it’s important to bring the shots to them,” medical assistant Emmaly Stallings said. “We want to make it as convenient as possible for at-risk seniors to get vaccinated. It’s been really rewarding to see how happy people are to get this opportunity.”
Community Roots Resident Services coordinated the senior vaccination effort and estimated that roughly 70 people were able to receive the Moderna vaccine throughout the week.
