Omnivorous: A benefit tasting celebrating 50 years of Community Roots Housing

Take a trip back to 1976! On September 30, join Community Roots Housing as we celebrate 50 years of building a more affordable Seattle with a special anniversary edition of Omnivorous at the historic Washington Hall.

This year, Omnivorous returns to its roots with a smaller, more intimate evening for longtime friends, loyal supporters, and our favorite local culinary partners. We’ll toast to five decades of community-driven housing and honor the people and partnerships that made this work possible. With your support, we can continue to create affordable housing to build a region where everyone belongs.

Come hungry, decked out in ‘70s attire, and ready to boogie down for a cause that keeps Seattle thriving. Space is limited for this stellar event. Make sure you are a part of this unforgettable night filled with delicious bites, full-sized drinks, and a vibrant community.

The housing crisis calls all of us to the table

Over the past 50 years, Seattle has been defined by its periods of booms and busts. When our economy booms, there is not enough housing for everyone who wants to live here. Each year, it becomes harder for working people to stay in the city.

As the affordability crisis deepens, the impact falls on those who can least bear it, including young families, teachers, restaurant service workers, artists, and people transitioning out of homelessness. Community Roots exists to build and operate affordable housing for the benefit of the people who make our communities whole.

The money raised at Omnivorous helps keep our neighborhoods within reach for everyone through the development, preservation, and operation of affordable housing.

About Community Roots Housing

For 50 years, Community Roots Housing has worked to create and preserve affordable homes across Seattle and White Center. What began as a neighborhood response to redlining and disinvestment has grown into a long-term commitment to housing stability, community resilience, and equitable development.

Since 1976, we have adapted our approach to meet the changing needs of low-income residents. Learn how the organization has helped communities navigate the booms and busts that have shaped housing stability in Seattle.
