Reinvesting in existing affordable housing stock

Community Roots Housing is committed to revitalizing existing affordable housing whenever possible.

In 2023:

  • CRH broke ground on a full rehabilitation of the Devonshire, safeguarding 62 affordable homes in a 98-year-old building in central Seattle.
  • Exterior structures at the Haines were restored and repainted.
  • The Helen V, a 114-year-old building, underwent significant restoration efforts including the installation of new lighting, removal of old carpet, installation of new subfloor and tiling, and a comprehensive paint job for all common areas that remediated outdated building materials. The building’s entry doors were also refinished, and historical articles detailing the building’s early history were hung on the lobby walls.
